Knowing Jesus - Mark 16
Frederick Beuchner on the Resurrection: 'The worst thing is never the last thing"
(incorrectly credited as Henri Noewen in the sermon)
It’s a truth that sits right at the edge of an empty tomb in Mark 16 — where the women stand trembling, caught between fear and faith, between what they saw and what they hoped for. The story seems to end in silence, but that’s exactly where resurrection begins — in the gap between despair and belief. And it’s the same place Jonah found himself, swallowed by the deep, running from the very God who brings dead things to life. Both Jonah and the women are faced with the same question that still echoes to us today: What will you do with an empty tomb? Will you stay silent, or will you step into resurrection life?
